miniToggle — User Guide

Introduction

miniToggle is an application that lets you instantly change Explorer and Windows settings from a clean interface or directly from the system tray with a single click.

Show / hide hidden files

Empty the recycle bin

Main Screen

Click the extend button extend to open the extended screen, which gives access to all available toggles.

The Show hidden files and Show file extensions switches respectively show or hide hidden files and file extensions in Explorer when pressed.

The Empty trash switch empties the recycle bin immediately when toggled.

Clean Explorer

The Clean Explorer switch clears the following items at once:

Recent files
Run dialog history
Address bar history
Clipboard contents

Explorer recent files and address bar — Explorer — Recent files & Address bar

The address bar history and recent files visible in Explorer are cleared, along with the Run dialog history and the contents of the clipboard.

Windows 11 Features

The following toggles are available on Windows 11 only.

Windows menu position — toggles the taskbar Start button and icons between the default centered position and the classic left-aligned position.

Clock with seconds — shows or hides the seconds on the Windows 11 system tray clock.

Dark mode — toggles between dark and light mode, independently for Windows and for applications. Both can be controlled separately from the extended screen.

Windows context menu — switches the Explorer right-click context menu between the new Windows 11 design and the classic Windows 10 style.

Mute — mutes or unmutes the audio output.

System Tray

The Icon in system tray section lets you choose which actions execute each time you click the miniToggle tray icon — for fast access without opening the window.

If Show hidden files is checked, clicking the tray icon toggles hidden files on/off.
If Show file extensions is checked, clicking the tray icon toggles extensions on/off.
If Empty trash and/or Clean Explorer are checked, those tasks run on every tray click.

If no options are selected, clicking the tray icon simply shows the miniToggle window.

Settings

The settings screen lets you configure Run at startup — whether miniToggle launches automatically when Windows starts.

You can view the current version and access quick links: the miniToggle website, GDZ Software Instagram, and the PayPal donations page to support the project.

The rounded borders option toggles between sharp and rounded corners on the miniToggle window.

miniToggle has 6 visual skins. Press the T key at any time to switch to the next one.
